Argentina : Argentine architect Francisco Salamone - Photos by Leandro Ibañez/LATINPHOTO.org  see pictures Francisco Salamone (June 5, 1897 – August 8, 1959) was an Argentine architect of Italian descent who, between 1936 and 1940, during the Infamous Decade, built more than 60 municipal buildings with elements of Art Deco style in 25 rural communities on the Argentine Pampas within the Buenos Aires Province. México : Our Lady of Holy Death - Text by Alessio Coghe - Photos by Gerardo Flores  see pictures Santa Muerte, is a female deity or folk saint in Mexican and Mexican-American folk Catholicism. A personification of death, she is associated with healing, protection, and safe delivery to the afterlife by her devotees. Nicaragua: A country in turmoil - Photos by Oscar Navarrete  see pictures  After the announcement of pension cuts, hundreds of thousands are taking to the streets since April 2018 to demonstrate against the government of Daniel Ortega. LP photographer Oscar Navarrete documented the rallies and portrayed mothers and relatives of the victims killed by police, the military or paramilitary forces during the riots. Argentina : Campo de Cielo - Photos by Julie Weisz  see pictures  Female Identity - The photographs were taken in July 1989 in the province of Formosa, 40 km from Las Lomitas. The community shown is called Campo del Cielo - Field of Heaven. The 35 families living in this community live in a rural area, without electricity or water and during the rainy season the area is completely isolated as the roads are not passable. The community depends entirely on governmental help. Even though life is very primitive, there is a lot of warmth and love from the women to their children. They often breastfeed them up to 4 years or as long as the child wants to. The photographer lived in this community and got to understand their way of life which is reflected in the photographs. Guerrillero Heroico - Alberto Korda's photograph of Che Guevara  see pictures  Guerrillero Heroico (Heroic Guerrilla Fighter) is an iconic photograph of Marxist revolutionary Che Guevara taken by Alberto Korda. It was captured on March 5, 1960, in Havana, Cuba, at a memorial service for victims of the La Coubre explosion. By the end of the 1960s, the image, in conjunction with Guevara's subsequent actions and eventual execution, helped solidify the charismatic and controversial leader as a cultural icon. Korda has said that at the moment he shot the picture, he was drawn to Guevara's facial expression, which showed "absolute implacability" as well as anger and pain. Years later, Korda would say that the photograph showed Che's firm and stoic character. Guevara was 31 years old at the time the photograph was taken. Report by diffrent photographers. Mexico : Muxe and gender in Zapotec culture  see pictures  In Zapotec cultures of Oaxaca (southern Mexico), a muxe is an assigned male at birth who individual who dresses and behaves in ways otherwise associated with the female gender, they may be seen as a third gender. Some marry women and have children while others choose men as sexual or romantic partners.
